Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Cristal Skull
It seems that George Lucas wanted to do one more Star Wars film. At least that is what I felt when I got the overall plot revealed on the newest Indiana Jones film. I’ll admit that I did like the new, more refined, more mature Henry Jones II and how the story connected to the other two films through several references placed strategically in several scenes. Still, the movie’s sci-fi blend with archeology didn’t work out that well.
I’m leaving this post mainly spoiler free, but all I’ll say is that there is a part near the end where my mind simply thought “What the frack is this? How did Harrison Ford approve to do this scene?” Still, overall – it is a good movie and a nice re-opening chapter to a whole new set of possibilities for the Indiana Jones franchise. Directed by Steven Spielberg, meaning that most of the scenes are carefully choreographed unlike the Star Wars saga.
It is a fun-felt light movie that is similar to ‘keeping it down to earth’ in terms of Indy’s character and role throughout the movie – although the ‘down to earth’ does go to a certain extent beyond this universe. It is mainly a sequel to the first and third Indiana Jones movies but with a mystical plot line – something Spielberg and Lucas did on the second movie with Temple of Doom.
